Communication No. 2017-11.1
Addition to the 6.27.17 CERS Minutes

We also looked at the realities of flood areas, the expense of providing solutions in those areas is very
high.

It is suggested that we stage the plan to begin with property and easement acquisition, then move on to
scheduling the work as funding becomes available.

The work that has been done to date on the connectivity solutions above Fern Acres was discussed.
Kason reports that the S. Lauko connection’s flooding conditions make its cost prohibitive, Pszyk is also
quite a costly project as it entails several bridges. The extension of Puhala over to S. Kopua survey has
been completed and easement process and acquisition of the stump belonging to Kopua Farmlots is
next.

Roy reports that the GIS layers with flood plain, subdivision, county and private road have been made
available.

It was recommended that the committee meet in the Puna Conference Room. We scheduled a meeting
for Friday, September 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
