Hawaii Game Management Advisory Commission Meeting <br />Minutes – June 27, 2017 <br />DY: I have a question for clarification. So Steve says $50,000 was paid for this <br />thing and is the draft available. <br /> <br /> If you paid for it – it’s paid for – it’s bought. It’s a public record. It should be <br />distributed. <br /> <br />JC: There’s channels of communication that we are trying to establish through the <br />working group and the commission. <br /> <br />DY: My understanding is that I was getting a copy and a request made by GMAC <br />(County) to get a copy to each commissioner. When was this $50,000 spent <br />by the way? <br /> <br />TL: Seven years ago... <br /> <br />JC: That was before my time. <br /> <br />WJC: I guess a little bit of my frustration is why can’t we get a copy of the original <br />that was written so that we know what everybody’s working with, I mean, why <br />can’t we see what was paid for, right? I mean, it was paid for, it was written, <br />now hand it over to DOFAW for a review or whatever – why can’t we see <br />what was written in the first place and then continue on with the process. <br />Obviously, there’s going to be amendments to it – it’s not going to be perfect <br />but why can’t anybody see what’s there, I mean, what is so secretive about <br />this whole deal. I mean we’ve been asking for years to see this thing. <br /> <br />JC: I’m sure we can work this out. <br /> <br />WJC: OK. <br /> <br />TL: Again to his question. We are a long way away from the original draft. <br /> <br />JC: I don’t think we’re a long ways away, no, this is based off the original draft... <br /> <br />TL: No, I understand that part. So my giving him the original draft is not a <br />problem, right. <br /> <br />JC: It’s only a draft and not official. <br /> <br />DOFAW policy hasn’t been accepted by DOFAW as the official management <br />plan – we’ve been working off of that draft since it was created to work on <br />some of the issues that was brought up within the draft and correcting some <br />of the things – one of the suggestions of the draft was creating the <br />commission and that’s been done. Another suggestion was increasing <br />communication with the hunting community and we’ve started a list and a <br />9 <br /> <br /> <br />
