HAWAII POLICE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MINUTES <br />SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 <br />WEST HAWAII CIVIC CENTER, BUILDING G CONFERENCE ROOM <br />74-5044 ANE KEOHOKALOLE HIGHWAY, KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Morioka called the meeting to order at 9:08. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Keith Morioka, Chair <br />Peter Hendricks, Vice Chair <br />Arthur Buckman, Commissioner <br />Wayne De Luz, Commissioner <br />Paul Paiva, Commissioner <br />Absent: Carl Carlson, Commissioner <br />Jak Hu, Commissioner <br />Colleen Pasco, Commissioner <br />A quorum was present. <br />Also present: Kenneth Bugado, Deputy Chief <br />Marshall Kanehailua, Assistant Chief <br />Mitchell Kanehailua, Assistant Chief <br />Henry Tavares, Assistant Chief <br />Burt Shimabukuro, Captain <br />Malia Hall, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Vice Chair Hendricks motioned to approve the agenda. Commissioner Paiva seconded, <br />and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />• August 11, 2017, regular and executive sessions: Commissioner Buckman pointed <br />out a non -substantive change in the executive minutes. Vice Chair Hendricks <br />motioned to approve the minutes as amended. Commissioner Paiva seconded, and <br />it carried unanimously. <br />POLICE CHIEF'S REPORT ON DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES <br />• Crime Report: AC Tavares reported that up through August 31, there were 1,520 <br />serious crimes. The Criminal Investigation Units investigated 240 of these crimes. <br />In August, they had 8,911 calls for service. In Area I, burglaries have moved from <br />
