Industrial -Commercial Mixed Use - 20,000 square foot (MCX-20) zoned district. The <br />property is located at 313 Kuawa Street, which is on the northeast corner of Kalanikoa <br />Street and Kuawa Street, Waiakea, Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-2-032:024. <br />The Commission took this item up at 9:30 a.m. with 3 people from the public in attendance. <br />(SEE EXHIBIT B) <br />This item ended at 9:41 a.m. <br />3. APPLICANT: NA WAI OLA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL <br />(USE 17-000070/ SPP 17-000193) <br />Applications for a Use Permit and Special Permit to allow the expansion of an existing <br />public charter school on 3.6 acres of land in the Single -Family Residential - 20,000 <br />square feet (RS -20) zoning district and one acre of land in the State Land Use <br />Agricultural District. The subject properties include the site of the Mountain View Gym <br />and St. Theresa Catholic Church and is located along the south (makai) side of Volcano <br />Highway, approximately 150 feet east of its intersection with Nichols Road in Mountain <br />View, Puna District, Hawaii, Tax Map Keys: 1-8-002:006, 1-8-002:049, 1-8-004:104. <br />[Secretary's Note: This item was deferred to the November 2, 2017, Commission meeting.] <br />MINUTES — The Commission took this item up at 9:41 a.m. <br />Approval of Minutes of the September 7, 2017 Meeting — It was moved by Commissioner <br />Raffipiy, and seconded by Commissioner Clarkson, that the Minutes of September 7, 2017, be <br />approved as circulated. Motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners <br />in attendance. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS - The Commission took this item up <br />at 9:42 a.m. <br />Mr. Darrow reminded the Commission that the Joint Planning Commission meeting with the <br />Leeward Planning Commission, regarding the amendments to Rule 9 of the Planning <br />Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure, will be held on October 30th via teleconference <br />at the Hilo and Kona Council Rooms. He added that the next regularly scheduled Windward <br />Planning Commission meeting will be on November 2nd, and that the agenda was full for that <br />day. <br />Upon Chair Henkel's inquiry, Mr. Darrow stated that the pre -hearing conference for the <br />contested case hearing [Verizon Wireless USE 17-000067] will be held on October 17, 2017. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Windward Planning Commission <br />October 5, 2017 Minutes <br />
