No. 2018-03 <br />North Kohala Community Access Group <br />December 6, 2017 (Old State Judiciary Building 4:30pm) <br />Participants: Toni Withington, Carter Collins, Aric Arakaki, Michelle Weissman, Eli Fein, Teri <br />Takata, Beth Robinson, Joe Carvalho, Ted Matsuda. <br />❖ Pololu Lookout <br />o Department of Transportation will pave from Kohala Middle School to Amakua Gulch <br />(2nd horseshoe). <br />■ Originally paving was from Kohala Hospital till Pololu lookout. <br />o Surety Kohala Corporation is applying for consolidation & re -subdivision on their <br />property by Pololu (proposed parking lot for lookout on Mauka of the road). <br />❖ Niulii <br />o NSTR (nothing significant to report). <br />❖ Hapu'u — Kapanaia <br />o Charlie Anderson's property (Half O' Kaiili) is in escrow & may be closing this year <br />with the PONC purchase. <br />■ Public access is along the county graveyard road. <br />o Pacific Plains PONC purchase is approved but no matching funds. <br />■ Land legacy is out of funds for this year and will apply for funding next July. <br />•'• Halelua <br />• o NSTR - Need update from county planning department on GOE. <br />•'• Pahoa Beach <br />o NSTR - Need update from county planning department <br />❖ Upolu Airport East <br />o NSTR - Need update from county planning department. <br />❖ Upolu Airport Restoration <br />o NSTR. <br />•'• Honoipu <br />o Community members met with Dutch Kyper (CEO of Parker Ranch), Parker Ranch's <br />Land Manger, and the listing realtor. <br />■ The community members asked if they would like to donate it to the <br />community, their response was no, so the community members asked of a land <br />swap would be possible. <br />o The road from Akoni Pule Highway down till the Red cinder road is owned by the <br />Federal government. <br />■ Maybe the county can take it over with a no -bid stipulation. <br />❖ Puakea Bay Ranch <br />o NSTR — We will refer to this area as "Pali A' Kamoa" <br />•'• Kukuipahu <br />• o NSTR <br />❖ Lamalaloa - South of Lapakahi <br />o NSTR <br />•'• Kaiholena <br />• o NSTR <br />❖ Kohala Shoreline LLC <br />o EA was rejected by the Planning Department. <br />■ The Planning Director found problems with the way it was written. <br />Page 1 1 <br />
