Commissioner De Luz seconded, <br />and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />• October 20, 2017, regular and executive sessions: Vice Chair Hendricks motioned to <br />approve both minutes with the correction that Deputy Chief Bugado was not present. <br />Commissioner Carlson seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />POLICE CHIEF'S REPORT ON DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES <br />• Crime Report: Major Apele reported that up through October 31, there were 2,842 <br />serious crimes. Of these, the Criminal Investigation Units investigated 504 of those <br />cases. Area I saw no crime trend. In Area 11, South Kohala had a slight increase in <br />auto thefts and breaking into vehicles. The Kona District had a decrease in auto theft, <br />
