COMMISSIONERS’ DISTRICT UPDATE REPORTS AND ISSUES <br /> <br /> At the January 10, 2018, meeting, the commissioners requested the following items be <br />placed on the agenda for discussion. <br />a. Vice Chair Olson: <br />(1) the problem of abandoned vehicles. <br />(2) update on transfer station operations and management. <br /> <br />b. Commissioner Fear: <br />(1) the discharge of water on Aliʻi Drive next to Huliheʽe Palace. <br />(2) the status of the recycling programs at the schools. <br />(3) announcement of the West Hawaiʻi Community Beach Clean-Up on <br />March 3, 2018, at the Old Airport Park in Kalua-Kona. <br /> <br />c. Commissioner Fritz: <br />(1) discuss the installation of a sewage treatment plant in Puakō and how it <br />will manage the water and nutrients. <br /> <br />d. Chair Bennett: <br />(1) the status of wastewater discharges at County beach parks in Kona and the <br />potential for non-governmental organization and grant assistance. <br /> <br />8. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS <br />Commissioners can suggest items they would like placed on the next agenda. <br /> <br />9. ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />a. The next meeting is scheduled for March 28, 2018, in Kona at the West Hawaiʻi <br />Civic Center, Community Meeting Hale (Building G). <br /> <br />10. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting place is accessible to persons with disabilities. Comments may be <br />sent to the Department of Environmental Management, 345 Kekūanāoʻa Street, Suite 41, Hilo, <br />Hawaiʻi 96720, or emailed to cohdem@hawaiicounty.gov. <br /> <br /> <br />Notice to lobbyists: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawaiʻi County Clerk within <br />five days of becoming a lobbyist. \[Article 15, Section 2-91.3(b), Hawaiʻi County Code.\] A lobbyist <br />means “any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends more than five hours in <br />any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting to influence legislative or <br />administrative action by communicating or urging others to communicate with public officials.” <br />\[Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a)(6), Hawaiʻi County Code.\] Registration forms and expenditure report <br />documents are available at the Office of the County Clerk-Council, 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, Hawaiʻi <br />96720. <br /> <br />2 <br />
