Taniguchi, Chair <br />Committee on Judiciary <br />Hawaii State Capitol, Room 016 <br />Honolulu, HI 96813 <br />Dear Chair Taniguchi and Committee Members: <br />Re: SB 2046 Relating to Bump Stocks <br />Hearing Date: 02/27/18 — 9:30 am; Conference Room 016 <br />1 appreciate this opportunity to fully support S 2046. <br />1 initially had hope that even the most ardent firearm enthusiast believes there is <br />no legitimate need for devices that accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm. <br />That turned out to be hopelessly wrong. However, when the National Rifle Association <br />has a statement on its website that "The NRA believes that devices designed to allow <br />semi-automatic rifles to function like fully -automatic rifles should be subject to additional <br />regulations," it would seem the only issue left is exact wording. <br />If the NRA or others have better language than SB 2046, there is no reason it <br />should not be considered.
