Mr. Riehm said that all of the front of the building would be a rust color and an option suggested <br />was to paint the sides of the wall a flat paint as opposed to the mottled paint color. <br />Commissioner Van Pernis commented that the original color on the building was very specific <br />on the original submittal and it should remain the same as previously approved. <br />The Commissioners had more discussion on the options of the color for the building and it <br />suggested that the mottled rust color remain as originally submitted and approved. <br />Vice Chair Roth asked if there was any motions. <br />Commissioner John Hetherington made a motion: <br /> <br />To accept this submittal as presented and (a) accepting applicant’s option on the cladding to be <br />real lava rock and not faux rock; (b) paint on cooler and bioreactor can be any of four (4) colors <br />– ash grey, zinc grey, zinc metallic or Corten AZP raw color or color to match main Corten AZP <br />raw color; (c) for landscaping plan (Sheet L1), species may be changed to reduce water use and <br />number of plants to remain the same; and (d) for exterior paint, all mottled look as originally <br />approved. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hetherington moved to approve the submission, Commissioner Ikeuchi seconded <br />the motion and the motion was unanimously approved. <br /> – (6 ayes – passed). <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />The Commission will continue discussion concerning the possible update of the 1994 <br />Kailua-Kona Master Plan and the relationship of how this master plan coordinates with <br />the Kona Community Development Plan (KCDP). Commissioner Hetherington offered to <br />prepare a draft letter to the Planning Director stating that if there is an appropriation for a <br />Kailua-Kona Redevelopment Plan, the members of the KVDC would like to be included in <br />the Master Planning process. <br />Vice Chair Roth suggested the Commission defer this item until the second KVDC meeting to be <br />held in 2018. <br />ASMINISTRATIVE MATTERS <br />1. Terry Dunlap announced that the annual appreciation dinner for the KVDC is scheduled for <br />Tuesday, January 30, 2018, the last Tuesday of January. Mr. Dunlap said that Bennett Mark <br />will be setting up the dinner at a restaurant in Kailua Village with a short presentation <br />provided by Terry Dunlap on significant projects reviewed by the Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Dunlap also said that the Planning Director is pleased with the Commission’s efforts to <br />review projects and design of the buildings in Kailua Village, and that he will be attending the <br />th <br />appreciation dinner for the KVDC on January 30, 2018. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
