NO. i8z <br />1 local hunter or shooting organizations and at least one member <br />2 must have knowledge, experience, and expertise in the area of <br />3 native Hawaiian cultural practices; and <br />4 <br />5 WHEREAS, the Advisory Commission, among other things: <br />6 <br />7 (1) Consults with and advises the Board on any matter <br />8 affecting hunting, including proposed rules and <br />9 regulations; <br />10 <br />11 (2) Assists in establishing criteria to be used in <br />12 determining whether an area is suitable for hunting; <br />13 and <br />14 <br />15 (3) Assists DLNR on policies, plans, and procedures <br />16 related to the control of game mammals, including <br />17 aerial shooting activities by DLNR and its <br />18 contractors; and <br />19 <br />20 WHEREAS, DLNR is engaged in aerial shooting of goats; and <br />21 <br />22 WHEREAS, DLNR restricts the areas in which hunters may <br />23 track wild ungulates; and <br />24 <br />25 WHEREAS, DLNR restricts the bag limit on wild goats; now, <br />26 therefore, <br />27 <br />28 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the <br />29 Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session <br />30 of 2018, the Senate concurring, that DLNR is urged to work with <br />31 local hunters to accommodate traditional and customary native <br />32 Hawaiian hunting practices; and <br />33 <br />34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that DLNR is: <br />35 <br />36 (1) Requested to find alternative methods of eradicating <br />37 wild ungulates, other than aerial shooting; <br />38 <br />39 (2) Urged to expand the areas where hunters may track and <br />40 access wild ungulates; and <br />HCR HMS 2018-2651 <br />IB�1119��I II�IVIVWIII��VI���l�lllid�l��� <br />
