CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: May 14, 2018 <br />MEDIA UPDATE Time: 0725 AM <br /> Radio Frequency: Every 1 hour <br /> Update: #2 <br /> <br />Incident: East Rift Zone Eruption <br /> <br />This is a Civil Defense Message for Monday, May 14 at 7:25 in the morning. <br /> <br />Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports a new fissure in Lanipuna Gardens Subdivision has <br />opened between fissure 15 and 16 at this time. For up to date information, go to <br />http://www.hawaiicounty.gov/2018-lava-map <br /> <br />Be aware, no sightseeing is permitted in the area. <br /> <br />Due to the volcanic activity, the following are issued: <br /> <br /> Residents of Lanipuna Gardens are advised to be on the alert to gas emissions and <br />active volcanic eruption. <br /> <br /> Hawaii Police Department is enforcing the Federal Aviation Administration’s Temporary <br />Flight Restriction for lower Puna area. No helicopter or drone activity is allowed without <br />approval. <br /> <br />The residents of Puna are going through a very difficult time. We ask for your help and <br />understanding. <br /> <br />County, State, Federal and private partners continue to monitor the situation.
