6.11 Visitor Industry <br />Policy 123: <br />Encourage appropriate visitor -related uses and facilities. Some examples of appropriate visitor -related uses <br />and facilities are ones that: <br />• Directly promote Agriculture, Ecotourism, Health & Wellness; or Cultural Heritage, and/or... <br />• Are Located near points of interest (as long as they will not detract from the natural beauty of the area, <br />or negatively impact the host community's privacy/public safety and rural lifestyle); and/or... <br />• Offer an educational experience as well as recreational activities. <br />(GP 14.7.5.3.2(a); 14.7.5.4.2) <br />6.12 Local Economy & Town Centers <br />Encourage the rehabilitation of existing service-oriented industrial areas. (GP 14.4.5.4.2(b)) <br />pl�: <br />Develop underutilized private and public properties within existing towns to be used as gathering places, <br />community gardens, open squares and markets, auxiliary parking lots (including park and ride areas), and <br />parks (including pocket and art parks, and outdoor amphitheaters, etc.). <br />Examples of underutilized parcels owned by the County are: <br />■ Honoka'a: TMK 4-5-005:010 on the corner of Mamane and Puakalo. <br />■ Papa'aloa: TMK 3-5-003:035 next to the Papa'aloa Gym. <br />■ '0'6kala: TMK3-9-001:026 (Currently zoned Industrial) & TMK: 3-9-001:034 (between '0'6kala town <br />and Highway 19. <br />See also Policy 3, Policy 14, Policy 45, and Policy 127. <br />Hamakua CDP Land Use Planner's Guide 22 <br />
