<br />Re: Letter of Agreement Regarding Transfer of Moneys for Disaster Response
<br />Pursuant to the Emergency Proclamation relating to the County of Hawaii'i (County)
<br />dated May 3, 2018, the Supplemental Emergency Proclamation dated May 9, 2018,
<br />and the Second Supplemental Emergency Proclamation dated June 5, 2018, I am
<br />transferring Twelve Million Dollars ($12,000,000) in financial assistance to the Coun
<br />for the purpose of supporting the County's response to the active volcanic eruption
<br />occurring along the East Rift Zone in Lower Puna on Hawai'i. Island.
<br />These moneys are intended to be used to provide immediate relief necessary to
<br />protect the health, safety and welfare of area residents, such as, but not limited to
<br />food, water and basic emergency supplies, temporary shelter- related goods and
<br />ervices.
<br />These moneys are not intended for long-term infrastructure repairs or for private
<br />ose:s uch as the repair or rebuilding of private dwellings.
