<br />CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: June 15, 2018 <br />MEDIA UPDATE Time: 12:05 PM <br /> Update: #1 <br /> <br />Incident: East Rift Zone Eruption – No Tsunami Threat, Fri, June 15, 12:05PM <br /> <br />This is a Civil Defense message for Friday, June 15 at 12:05 p.m. <br />The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports the earthquake that occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m. <br />was NOT large enough to cause a tsunami for the Island of Hawaii. There is NO tsunami threat for the <br />island of Hawaii. <br />Preliminary data indicates that the earthquake measuring a magnitude of 5.3 was centered in the <br />summit region of Kilauea. <br />Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports that the ash eruption at the Kilauea Summit resulted in a small <br />ash plume reaching 9,000 to 10,000 feet high and may affect the surrounding areas. <br /> <br />Again, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports the earthquake that occurred at approximately <br />12:05 p.m. was NOT large enough to cause a tsunami for the island of Hawaii.
