Page 31 <br />1 was a position that was funded for $50,000 and it <br />2 hadn't been filled for quite some time. Then we might <br />3 talk with the department or with the mayor about maybe <br />4 unfunding it for the future year so it was more that, <br />5 the following year, that position wouldn't be budgeted <br />6 for. <br />7 MR. HARANO: Thank you. <br />8 MR. FRATINARDO: One last question for me: <br />9 Employees that are hired on a contractual basis in the <br />10 County, is there a special fund for those employees <br />11 that comes out -- for example, Mr. Levin was hired by <br />12 the mayor, or there's contractual hires that are with <br />13 the prosecutor's office or at the corp. counsel office. <br />14 Do they all come from the General Fund, or is there a <br />15 special fund they come from? <br />16 MS. SAKO: They would come from the <br />17 department's budget, whether it's General Fund, Highway <br />18 Fund or, you know, whichever fund that department falls <br />19 under. <br />20 But there's various reasons for different <br />21 contractual hires, and so if it's like -- it all comes <br />22 out of the salaries and wages account; so they have to <br />23 be able to have adequate funds in that account. Some <br />24 people may be specifically budgeted for.
