On Attachment A, of this year’s <br />nomination, it has the corrected list. <br />Secondly, Ms. Withington talks about on-going <br />communication from Pacific Plains. She confirms that <br />Pacific Plainsare standing by and willing to work with <br />the county for this purchase. Even though the <br />property is currently listed on the MLS and for sale, <br />the owners have been very supportive and of our <br />efforts. She supports the communication from Pacific <br />Plains. <br />Third, Ms. Withington talks about the site visit to <br />Kaupalaoa, those that was present wasthe National <br />Historic Ala Kahakai Trails Archeologist, Rick Gmirkin <br />and Superintendent, Aric Arakaki.Mr. Gmirkinduring <br />the visit pointed out the cultural and historical <br />significance of the area; villages stretched along the <br />coastline,burial grounds,and heiau’s, because of the <br />mauka-makai trail. This trail is one of three important <br />trails. <br />MR. WARSHAUER: Asks for location clarification and <br />the preservation of the mauka-makai trail. <br />MS. WITHINGTON:confirms that the trail does go up to <br />the Geo System and the importance of preservation <br />of the trail is vital to thecultural systems in that area <br />and most importantly the preservation of this trail. <br />MS. PAIK MANDER: Is there a directory or guide to <br />these historical sites? <br />MS. WITHINGTON:replies that their library in Kohala <br />has an extensive resources and information.
