Ms. Jarman moved to ask Commission Attorney <br />Levi Hookano to draft language to amend <br />Section 15 -1(b) of the Charter to be consistent <br />with the requirements for Recall and Initiative <br />and Referendum. Seconded by Mr. Shumway <br />and carried by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Commissioners Fuertes, Honma, Jarman, <br />Kaulukukui, Kealoha, Osborne, Shumway, <br />Unger, and Chair Haitsuka. <br />Noes: None. <br />Absent: Commissioners Kawauchi, and Nahale -a. <br />CHR. HAITSUKA: Is there any further discussion on Section 15 -1? Is there any discussion <br />on Section 15 -2? <br />MS. JARMAN: Maybe I could make the same motion that compares Section 15 -2, also to <br />make sure it's consistent. That's the provision on calling the election. HAITSUKA: Is there any discussion on Section 15 -3? Ms. Jarman. <br />MS. JARMAN: This is my first time ever on the Charter Commission. I feel like we didn't <br />get started until March, so in a sense we are rushed because of the time frame. I'm <br />wondering if we might want to think about having - -and I don't know what all of the <br />ramifications are of it, because I haven't thought it totally through- -the Charter Commission <br />appointed a little bit earlier so there is enough time to actually get organized, have more ad <br />hoc committees, and do more in terms of public hearings if we want to. I feel rushed for <br />something that is extremely important. I feel like this body is made up of people who really <br />are concerned and care, and want to work hard and do a good job. I feel like I don't have <br />enough time. Maybe you all don't feel the same way. <br />27 <br />
