isufficiency or insufficiency of the petition to the council at <br /> its next meeting. <br /> (b) If the petition does not contain sufficient valid <br /> signatures. the clerk shall so notify the petitioners' committee. <br /> The petitioners' committee may file a supplemental petition with <br /> additional signatures no more than ten days after being notified <br /> that the original petition did not contain sufficient signatures. <br /> The supplemental petition shall be governed rn by the same <br /> requirements as an original petition. Within five working days <br /> after the filing of a supplemental petition, the clerk shall <br /> complete an examination of the supplemental petition and <br /> determine whether it. together with the original petition. <br /> contains sufficient signatures. The clerk shall then certify the <br /> sufficiency or insufficiency of the petition to the council at <br /> the next meeting. <br /> (c) A majority of the petitioners' committee may request the <br /> county council to review the clerk's certificate, at or before <br /> the meeting at which the clerk presents the certificate to the <br /> council. The council shall review the latest clerk's <br /> certificate, upon the committee's request, and shall approve or <br /> reject the certificate or may substitute its own determination of <br /> sufficiency of the petition by resolution. The review actions of <br /> the council shall be final but shall not preclude the filing of a <br /> new petition for the same purpose. <br /> Section 11-[7] 6. County Council Action on Petitions. <br /> (a) The county council shall proceed immediately to consider an <br /> 411 <br /> -6- <br /> 1014 <br />
