The sale of the-system was made back in the early 50's I think, <br /> • I don't recall exactly; from that .the growth of the water system began. Money . <br /> was appropriated by the state legislature year, after year and at time, <br /> bonds were issued by the department for improvements to the system. So yes, <br /> that's a fact, the Department of Water Supply, then called the Board of Water <br /> Supply, did initiate the growth of the water system. <br /> . MANAGER: And .from then .on, we've been working with the state in. the development.of the <br /> . water systemsthroughout the island, especially Kona. <br /> TANAKA: Because you know I get different remarks when I .talk to people who worked for <br />• the state or who are legislators and senators saying that it was them because <br /> • they say they're the people that initiated the development of the 'water system. <br /> DEPUTY I 'm glad you asked.
