Hawaii Police Commission <br />Meeting Agenda <br />August 24, 2018 <br />Page 2 <br />(CLOSED SESSION) <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />The commission anticipates meeting in executive session to consider charges against <br />officers or employees of the Hawaii Police Department and to work on the semi-annual <br />evaluation of the police chief where matters affecting privacy will be involved, to consider <br />sensitive matters relating to public safety, and may consult with Corporation Counsel on <br />questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, <br />and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a) (2) (4) (6) and the Hawaii County Charter Section <br />13-20 (b). <br />CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS <br />• HPC 18-15: Complainant alleged that when officers responded to a call from hospital <br />staff, the officers acted in an overbearing manner. He also alleged that an officer <br />refused to initiate an assault complaint against a nurse who inserted an IV into his arm <br />that caused pain. <br />• HPC 18-23: Complainant alleged that an officer harassed him and issued citations for <br />no registration and no safety check even though he gave the officer the paperwork. <br />• Review of declined complaints. <br />STATUS REPORT OF REFERRED AND INTERNAL COMPLAINTS <br />WORK ON POLICE CHIEF PAUL FERREIRA'S SEMI-ANNUAL EVALUATION <br />This includes a review and status of his program of work and goals. <br />(OPEN SESSION) <br />ACTION ON CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS <br />• HPC 18-15 <br />• HPC 18-23 <br />• Declined complaints <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />The next monthly meeting is scheduled for September 21, 2018, 9:00 a.m., West Hawaii <br />Civic Center, Bldg.
