HAWAII FIRE COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF JULY 11, 2018 <br />AUPUNI CENTER CONFERENCE ROOM <br />101 PAUAHI ST., HILO, HAWAII <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Becker called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Robert Becker, Chair <br />Scott Susman, Vice Chair <br />Gregory Henkel, Commissioner <br />Kyle Keamo, Commissioner <br />Denise Laitinen, Commissioner <br />Marcella St. Ambrogio, Commissioner <br />Ralph Yawata, Commissioner <br />Absent: Donna Payesko, Commissioner <br />Also Present: Robert Perreira, Battalion Chief <br />Melanio Lorenzo, Accountant <br />Jessica Yeh, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Vice Chair Susman motioned to approve the agenda. Commissioner Yawata seconded, <br />and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JUNE 13, 2018 <br />Vice Chair Susman motioned to approve the minutes. Commissioner St. Ambrogio <br />seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT <br />In Chief Rosario's absence, Battalion Chief Robert Perreira of the Prevention Bureau <br />was present to answer any questions or comments on the Chiefs written report. <br />Budget and Finance <br />✓ Fiscal Year 2017/2018: Accountant Lorenzo reported that with the ongoing <br />lava flow, Salaries & Wages are short due to overtime. The Finance <br />Department assisted by transferring approximately $645,000 into their account. <br />He had a meeting with FEMA personnel. The bulk of their response costs <br />occurred in May. They need to submit requests for reimbursement within 60 <br />days. The split is 75/25 (FEMA/County) on every dollar they spend. FEMA will <br />only reimburse them for overtime. <br />
