<br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Duke Gonzales, APR <br />Aug. 22, 2018 808-423-3713 <br />duke.gonzales@usps.gov <br />usps.com/news <br />Release No. HO-18-25 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Hurricane Lane Impacts USPS Operations in Hawaii <br />Some Mail Delivery Suspended & Some Post Offices Closed <br /> <br />HONOLULU – In anticipation of the impact of Hurricane Lane, the U.S. Postal Service announced the <br />following adjustments to its operations for Thursday, Aug. 23: <br /> <br /> Hawaii island – There will be no mail delivery and all post offices will be closed on Thursday; <br />there will be no mail pickup from blue USPS mail boxes <br /> Maui county – Mail will be delivered but all post offices will be closed on Thursday; there will be <br />no mail pickup from blue USPS mail boxes <br /> Oahu – Mail will be delivered and all post offices will be open on Thursday; mail will be picked <br />up from blue USPS mail boxes <br /> Kauai – Mail will be delivered but all post offices will be closed on Thursday; there will be no <br />mail pickup from blue USPS mail boxes <br /> <br />Postal Service management is closely monitoring the path and impact of the hurricane and will make <br />additional decisions regarding adjustments to postal operations as needed. <br /> <br />“The safety of our employees, customers and the mail is our foremost priority,” said USPS Emergency <br />Manager Chuck Lum. “We will resume our operations as soon as we determine that it is safe to do so.” <br /> <br /># # # <br />A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, <br />businesses and Post Office Boxes.
