Funeral arrangements are being finalized. Vice Chair De Luz pointed out that auto accidents have been high. Chief Ferreira stated that they had 3 fatalities in a 24-hour period and another one involving a bicycle. Vice Chair De Luz stated that he was contacted by a company about vehicle tracking technology. He will forward the information to the Chief. Chief Ferreira reported on the upcoming funeral services for recently retired Assistant Chief Henry Tavares. EXECUTIVE SESSION (Closed to the public.) Commissioner Hu motioned to meet in executive session to consider charges against officers or employees of the Hawaii Police Department and to work on the semi-annual evaluation of the police chief where matters affecting privacy will be involved, to consider sensitive matters relating to public safety, and may consult with Corporation Counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a) (2) (4) (6) and the Hawaii County Charter Section 13-20 (b). Commissioner Carlson seconded, and it carried unanimously. Closed session convened at 10:38 a.m. Open session reconvened at 11:05 a.m. ANNOUNCEMENTS Chair Hendricks announced that the Police Commission's next monthly meeting is scheduled for August 24, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in the Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi St., Hilo, Hawaii.
