Hawaii County Dept. of Human Resources 09/11/2018 12:47:37 PM <br />Salary Commission Page 2 September 17, 2018 <br />5) New Business (for discussion and appropriate action): <br />• Election of Salary Commission Chair and Vice -Chair, Effective <br />January 1, 2019. <br />6) Unfinished Business (for discussion and appropriate action) <br />A) Review of existing compensation plan to include discussion and <br />consideration on proposals for adjustments to future salaries of <br />executives and elected officials. Discussion may include: <br />o Briefing by Finance Director Deanna Sako and Real Property Tax <br />Administrator Lisa Miura concerning the budget and real property <br />taxes for FY2018-2019 (financial impacts due to the ongoing natural <br />disasters, i.e. eruption/hurricane). <br />o Discussion concerning the possible salary adjustments beginning <br />July 1, 2018 (position titles, departments, current salaries, salaries of <br />subordinates, suggested salary increase amounts, and current pay <br />levels for comparable positions for other counties). <br />(Postponed: June 21, 2018.) <br />o Update concerning bargaining unit pay increases by Human Resources <br />Director William V. Brilhante, Jr. (Reference memo dated April 18, <br />2018 to Salary Commission Chair Hugh Y. Ono, P. E., transmitting a <br />chart of the collective bargaining pay increases for the period of July <br />1, 2017 -June 30, 2019 and July 1, 2017 -June 30, 2021 (BU01/BU12). <br />This was presented to the Commissioners at its April 26, 2018 <br />meeting.) <br />o Discussion on future salary recommendations from a representative <br />of the respective board or commission for those appointed positions <br />that report to them: <br />a. <br />Mayor <br />b. <br />County Council <br />c. <br />Police Commission <br />d. <br />Fire Commission <br />e. <br />Merit Appeals Board <br />f. <br />Liquor Commission <br />g. <br />Corporation Counsel <br />h. <br />Prosecuting Attorney <br />i. <br />Others <br />
