<br /> <br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />AUGUST 16, 2018 <br /> <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of WEST HAWAI‘I BUSINESS PARK, <br />LLC (AMEND REZ 1049) was called to order at 10:11 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, <br />Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, <br />with Chairman Keith F. Unger presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Keith F. Unger, Perry Kealoha, Michael Vitousek and <br />Faye Yates <br /> <br />RECUSED: Nancy Carr Smith <br /> <br />ABSENT AND EXCUSED: Scott Church and Sonny Shimaoka <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Malia Hall, Esq. (Counsel for the Commission), Jeff Darrow (Planning <br />Program Manager), Christian Kay (Planner), Shancy Watanabe (Planner) and Noriko Sauer <br />(Commission Secretary) <br /> <br />And three people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />APPLICANT: WEST HAWAI‘I BUSINESS PARK, LLC (AMEND REZ 1049) <br />Application to amend Condition K (Roadway Improvements) of Ordinance No. 04-110, which <br />reclassified approximately 196.634 acres of land from an Open (O) to an Industrial-Commercial <br />Mixed-20,000 square feet (MCX-20) zoning district and reclassified approximately 85.733 acres <br />of land from an Open (O) to a General Industrial- 1-acre (MG-1a) zoning district. The property <br />is located along the east (mauka) side of Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway (State Highway 19), <br />stnd <br />Honokōhau 1 and 2, North Kona, Hawai‘i, TMKs (3) 7-4-008:013, 030, 074, 076-78 <br />inclusive, 084 and 085. <br /> <br />It was announced earlier that Commissioner Carr Smith would recuse herself from discussion <br />and voting on this item due to a conflict of interest. <br /> <br />UNGER: Agenda Item No. 2, Applicant West Hawai‘i Business Park, LLC, Amendment REZ <br />1049, application to amend Condition K, Roadway Improvements, of Ordinance No. 04 110, <br />which reclassified approximately 196.634 acres of land from an Open to an Industrial <br />Commercial Mixed-20,000 square feet zoning district and reclassified approximately 85.733 <br />acres of land from an Open to a General Industrial-1 acre zoning district.
