<br /> <br />Note: Resurfacing has been put on hold until after the Ironman Events <br /> <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />CONTACT: 808.961.8321 <br /> <br /> <br />Hwy. 11 Resurfacing Work In Kainaliu Postponed Until After Ironman <br />Triathlon <br /> <br />The County Highway Maintenance Division’s resurfacing work on the Māmalahoa Highway (Hwy.11) <br />between Teshima’s Restaurant and Sandy’s Drive Inn has been postponed to a future date, after the October 13 <br />Ironman Triathlon. <br /> <br />The resurfacing was originally planned to be done from Tuesday, October 2, 2018 to Monday, October 10, <br />2018. Work will be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., weather and construction <br />conditions permitting. <br /> <br />When the work commences, motorists are advised to expect delays and encouraged to use the Ali‘i Drive <br />Extension (Māmalahoa Bypass) as an alternate route. Alternating lane closures will be in effect and work will <br />be done on one lane at a time. Travel in both directions will be provided. <br /> <br />The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and <br />thanks the community for their patience and understanding. <br /> <br />If there are any questions or concerns, please call the County of Hawai‘i Highway Maintenance Division at <br />961-8349. <br /> <br />
