Jefferson: Yes. This is going to be the, sort of, public face. We have a distillery we're
making rum from Hawaiian sugar cane. The producer license that we are working on allows
public to go there, but instead what we decided to do is sort of a first-class place where
people can actually come to a bar and restaurant and not interact With the distillery operations
directly. That allows us to fully utilize the potential of this license. This will be a family
restaurant right at Queens' MarketPlace, next to Sansei. It's a spot that's never been
developed, so you can walk past it a million times and not even know it's there.
Taniguchi: Is there any public testimony regarding this application?
There was no public testimony.
Taniguchi: Since none, Commissioners?
There were no questions from the Commissioners.
Nahale-a: Move to approve Application No. 18-05, if approved public hearing to be held
October 4, 2018, in Kona.
Onizuka: Second.
Ms. Nahale-a moved to approve Application No. 18-05,
Kuleana Spirits, Inc., dba Kuleana Rum Shack, pursuant to
Rule 3-1-R(9) of the Rules and Regulations of the Liquor
Commission, under its original application for a Small Craft
Producer Pub liquor license, Category A, for a second location
as a Category B1, located at the Queens' MarketPlace,
69-201 Waikoloa Beach Drive, Spaces H5, H6, and H7, Waikoloa,
Hawari, TMK: 6-9-008:017; seconded by Mr. Onizuka.
Taniguchi: Moved and seconded.
