Chair Hamamoto asked Mr. Masuda for confirmation. Mr. Masuda verified and confirmed the <br />information. Chair Hamamoto asked if there were any questions regarding terms. There were <br />none. <br />Chair Hamamoto proceeded with the Election of Officers: <br />Ms. Ikeda made a motion to nominate Ms. Waugh as Vice -Chair of the Pension Board. <br />Seconded by Mr. Heaukulani. Mr. Masuda stated to Chair Hamamoto that the board could vote <br />for the new Vice -Chair and Chair with a block vote. <br />Ms. Ikeda made a motion to nominate Ms. Sumera as Chair of the Pension Board. Seconded by <br />Mr. Heaukulani. <br />Chair Hamamoto asked for a motion to close the nominations. Ms. Ikeda moved to close the <br />nominations. Seconded by Mr. Heaukulani. <br />The proposed slate of officers for the Pension Board's December 2014 — November 2015 are as <br />follows: Irma Sumera, Chair, and Arlene Waugh, Vice -Chair. <br />The motion was carried by the following block vote: <br />AYES: Board Members Heaukulani, Ikeda, Sumera, Waugh, and Chair Hamamoto — 5. <br />Mr. Masuda stated, at the request of the Mayor's office, the Board Members who will be <br />`termed -out' on December 31, 2014, will continue to serve on the board for a 90 -day holdover, <br />pending approval and confirmation of new members to the Pension Board (Hawai`i County <br />Charter, Section 13-4 (d)). Mr. Masuda also stated that Chair Hamamoto, Mr. Heaukulani, and <br />Ms. Ikeda may decline the 90 -day extension (March 31, 2015) by informing the Mayor's office <br />directly; otherwise, it will be assumed that they have agreed to the 90 -day holdover. <br />Mr. Heaukulani expressed to Chair Hamamoto and the other Board Members, his gratitude for <br />the Mayor's confidence in extending his current term and stated he will accept the extension. <br />Chair Hamamoto and Ms. Ikeda also stated they would agree to the extension. <br />Mr. Masuda reminded the board that all current members will have to serve at the next quarterly <br />meeting on February 23, 2015, under newly elected Chair Sumera if there are matters before the <br />board. <br />2. Chair Hamamoto recognized and thanked Carol Arikawa for her long and sustained effort. <br />Ms. Arikawa has served on the Pension Board representing the Accounts Division and will be <br />retiring in a few days, on November 28, 2014. Chair Hamamoto gave a brief history on <br />Ms. Arikawa: <br />a. Ms. Arikawa transferred to the Accounts Division from the Prosecuting Attorney's Office in <br />1985. <br />Page 2 <br />
