Cost of Government Commission <br />August 30, 2018 meeting minutes <br /> <br />The subcommittee explored a fee recommendation. When looking at the deficit to <br />make the course a “zero cost” status to the County, each player who goes <br />regularly would have to pay about $47.50 per month. The course just began <br />collecting for use of the rooms. Overall, the course has an operating budget of <br />about $1.2 million. <br /> <br />Health, Education and Welfare <br />The subcommittee continues to gather information. <br /> <br />Public Safety & Miscellaneous <br />The subcommittee met online and are getting started. They intend to meet with <br />the Prosecuting Attorney’s office. <br /> <br />Sanitation and Waste Removal <br />The subcommittee continues to gather information. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION OF RESPONSE TO COMMUNICATION FROM COUNTY CHARTER <br />COMMISSION <br />Commissioners reviewed the communication from Charter Commission Chairperson <br />Douglass Shipman Adams, which requested input and proposals from the Cost of <br />Government Commission on how the Charter affects its role and operations. <br /> <br />Commissioners discussed possible recommendations: <br />extend the length of term for the Cost of Government Commission to 24 months, <br />which could allow for follow-up on the recommendations <br />insert an “enforcement” mechanism into the Commission’s purview that would <br />require departments provide progress reports on recommendations <br /> <br />Chair Jones will prepare a draft response for Commissioners to review at the next <br />meeting for transmittal to the Charter Commission. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />(none) <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />The meeting was adjourned at 10:57 a.m. <br />4 <br /> <br />
