Page 12 <br />1 I would not give a penny to the mayor, to <br />2 the -- and also I consider our County a police state, <br />3 and I consider our County an oligarchy and run by the <br />4 top 1 percent, like the whole island owns by the <br />5 highest people. <br />6 And, also, you mentioned that nothing but <br />7 politics -- no public organization, public commission, <br />8 should have 100 percent authority. The amendment would <br />9 create a little crack and really made you guys very <br />10 angry. <br />11 And also giving the Corporation Counsel the <br />12 highest level of salary. He surely does not deserve <br />13 it. It looks -- as I say, it's like a family looking <br />14 after itself. I'm saying that we need to deal with our <br />15 island. We want to know what is going on in Maui or <br />16 anybody else, and someone mentioned county council, <br />17 that they were really happy with the raise you gave <br />18 them, that, oh, people -- someone from New Zealand <br />19 said, "Oh, what a different salary you're getting." We <br />20 don't care. This is an island. This is our home. We <br />21 listen to what's going on, and we decide in a way that <br />22 nobody would come and sit here and accuse this island <br />23 of being -- which is God's paradise -- as being a <br />24 police state and oligarchy.
