This is a complex topic, and there are pros and cons that
could be debated for a long time without resolution.
On the positive side, globalization has made the world more inter-connected, and
has opened new opportunities for information exchange across national boundaries. I
believe it's really beneficial when education helps develop multi-cultural awareness and
tolerance; it can be a path to peace.
I do not favor when globalization increases technological gaps between
advanced countries and less developed countries, or regions of the United States with
technological advances overtaking less-developed regions.
Education to bridge these gaps is vital to ensure equity in our society, and I
appreciate your efforts to understand the important issues involved in globalization.
Al a,
Harry Kim
MAYOR
County of Hawaii is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer
