Box 10927 <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> Dear Ms. Bonk: <br /> Thank you for your letter of January 15, 2019 regarding the Old Hilo Jail, which is <br /> under State jurisdiction and has not housed inmates since 1978. <br /> You may have seen news coverage on January 10, 2019 regarding the <br /> ceremony to begin the demolition of the facility, attended by the Department of Public <br /> Safety and other officials.
