Sako <br />Director <br />Our main concern with this proposed amendment, that would prohibit a minimum real property tax, is <br />that real property tax is not covered in the charter. It is a power granted to the counties in the Hawai`i <br />State Constitution in Article XIII, Section 3, Taxation and finance. The laws that we follow relating to <br />real property taxes are in Chapter 19 of the Hawai`i County Code. In addition, there are other <br />unintended consequences of this amendment that could affect many tax payers. <br />Our Real Property Tax Administrator, Lisa Miura, and our Assistant Real Property Tax Administrator, <br />Keith.
