•'• Kukuipahu • o NSTR. •'• Mahukona • o Rumor of a new owner is FALSE. ❖ Lamalaloa - South of Lapakahi o NSTR. ❖ Kaiholena/Pao`o o Some of the PONC maintenance funds managed by Kohala Lihikai has been earmarked. • High school students will do resource management (survey on users and uses of this area as well as evaluation of the archaeological survey and preservation plan). • Wildfire mitigation training will be done by Ala Kaha Kai Trail Association. •'• Kaupalaoa • o NSTR. ❖ Kohala Shoreline LLC. o The landowner's representatives discussed various topics. • Rezoning history. ■ In 1997 the area was re -zoned to R-15. ■ In 2016 is was proposed to be divided into a 9 -lot subdivision. • The landowner responded to the comments from the community to the EA process with a new proposal ■ Development will have a 100' setback from the highway & shoreline. ■ Minimize roadways to minimize run off. ■ Reduce the project to 6 lots with no building below the Ala Loa. ■ 11 new cultural sites may be preserved with this new plan, bring the total to 18 sites. ■ Vehicle access on the Ala Loa will not be allowed because of erosion problems. o The Ala Loa will be a lateral access. • A really detailed EA draft should be done in March and there will be a 30 -day comment period after the filing. o They are planning an archeological walk thru will happen sometime in February. ❖ Kohala Kai o NSTR. ❖ Kohala Waterfront o We need an update from the county planning department on the trail alignment on Lot 25. ❖ Rails to Trails o Meredith Speicher has a Rails to Trail draft report ready. • She has the old government roads by sections as a start. o Due to the government shutdown she may not be able to attend & present her draft to the CDP Action committee on January 28th ❖ Kynnersley Old Road extension o NSTR. ❖ New Items o NSTR. ❖ Next meeting o February 6, 2019 starting 4:30pm, in the old State Judiciary Building.
