ONO: Actually, what I wanted to do is <br />6 just offer my comments on the Charter Commission, some <br />7 of the stuff that's going on. And George and I have <br />8 had some conversation on this; but standing back and <br />9 taking a look at the whole process, and after having <br />10 served on this Charter Commission -- I mean this Salary <br />11 Commission, I'm beginning to believe that the County of <br />12 Hawaii can do without the Salary Commission. I believe <br />13 that everything is in place because the information for <br />14 the salaries fundamentally comes from the Department of <br />15 Human Resources. Plus that, they have the organization <br />16 and the rules in place so that such increases could be <br />17 included as part of the budget and would meet the <br />18 hearing process. <br />19 But what I wanted to offer, without getting <br />20 into a lot of detail, is if this Commission decides <br />21 that it wants to pursue that, I would be willing to <br />22 write up a talking paper as a draft for you folks to <br />23 use for that. <br />24 And, with that, I'll just leave it at that, <br />25 because I'm sure you guys are going to have fun <br />ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES <br />(808) 933-9800 <br />
