Commissioner Obra seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />POLICE CHIEF'S REPORT ON DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br />• Crime Report: Assistant Chief Kanehailua reported that up through January 31, 2019, <br />there were 4,793 serious crimes. Of these, the Criminal Investigation Units <br />investigated 566 cases. In the month of January, they had 8,806 calls for service. <br />Kona had an increase in burglaries and unauthorized entry of motor vehicles, also <br />known as auto thefts. Ka'u also had an increase in burglaries and auto thefts. Hilo had <br />an increase in auto thefts in the Boiling Pots and Kaumana Caves area. They are <br />working to identify suspects and working with enforcement agencies. Unauthorized <br />
