From: billgail@retiredinparadise.net <br />Sent: Monday, April 22, 2019 9:47 PM <br />To: Charter Commission <br />Subject: CA -18 Testimony in support <br />Aloha Members of the Charter Commission, <br />We support the 2% Land Fund's CA -18 - to allow Stewardship Groups to Pay People to Work on Behalf of <br />the Land. <br />We are trying to strengthen the 2% Land Fund Program. <br />Only nine percent of all monies in the Maintenance Fund were awarded to the stewardship non -profits in <br />the last six years and that the Maintenance Fund will be greatly helped if a full time staff person IN <br />ADDITION to the existing PONC staff can administer the Maintenance Fund Program can facilitate this <br />process. <br />HERE'S WHAT WE ARE PROPOSING: THE MAJOR ADDITION IS IN RED: <br />(0_ No officer, board member, or employee of the 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization or the organization <br />that operates under the umbrella of a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization shall receive a salary or payment for <br />labor, or receive any reimbursement for the stewardship work on the project, ,iiir ll, _ fly_Jira_I Jli j_ ii <br />%leak duties_ t ha 1.:__ir ap OVeC__ pait �th i _Ih siin s ppain The 501(c)3 nonprofit shall sign an <br />agreement so stating these conditions and submit it with the application. <br />We were involved the three times the 2% Land Fund went before the voters.
