Aloha Council Members,thank you very much for your time and for allowing me the opportunity to testify on Resolution 678 in
reference to 5G. I would kindly ask that you reconsider this resolution and vote against it. There is not enough research to
substantiate any adverse health effects of the radio frequencies (RF) used by 5G technology. By limiting access to technology,
we limit the ability of our children to keep up with the rest of the world, making it much more difficult for them to compete
and function in today's world. We already lag the nation and other developed countries in the field of education with lower
than national averages in language, math and sciences. We have poor access to the internet, we have the highest rate of
poverty in the State of Hawaii. Many of our households in our community have no access to the internet. 5G can help
increase the amount of children that can access the internet. With COVID-19,we were not able to complete our school year
because we did not have enough of our children connected to the internet to offer remote learning. In many communities in
our Nation,the children were able to complete their school year utilizing remote learning because they had internet
access. Our children missed out on 1/4th of their school year,where other children in our nation were able to complete their
year. This puts our children at a disadvantage in competing for colleges, work and at life in general. Having 5G can help us
with all of these issues.
The following is some information I would like to share from the American Cancer Society's web site:
"At this time, there's no strong evidence that exposure to RF waves from cell phone towers causes any noticeable health effects.
However, this does not mean that the RF waves from cell phone towers have been proven to be absolutely safe. Most expert
organizations agree that more research is needed to help clarify this, especially for any possible long-term effects. —American

"Cell phones communicate with nearby cell towers mainly through RF waves, a form of energy in the electromagnetic spectrum
between FM radio waves and microwaves. Like FM radio waves, microwaves, visible light, and heat, they are forms of non-
ionizing radiation. This means they do not directly damage the DNA inside cells, which is how stronger(ionizing) types of
radiation such as x-rays, gamma rays, and ultraviolet(UV) rays are thought to be able to cause cancer. - American Cancer

The following equipment/appliances/devices that we use on a daily basis utilize RF waves, these include but are not limited to:
• TV Broadcast
• Mobil Phones
• Radios
• Wi-Fi
• Remote Controls
• Microwave ovens
Given that there is no compelling evidence that RF is harmful, let's give our children the ability to have access to information
for the betterment of our community and their futures. Please vote no to Resolution 678
