Aloha Council Members,
Hawaii County Speciality Crop-Tea industry has taken a huge loss over this period of Covid-19.
Resolution 665/666-20 that supports Small Business would be of great assistance while we repurpose our agriculture
and manufacturing activities to innovate furthering market strategies in support of our communities.
State of Hawaii tea growers and farms have established production value and research with USDA, HDOA, HFSA
and numerous organizations that have data on Tea as a national crop to be listed in Specialty Crop category.
Private sector numbers include tea crop loss during Coronavirus pandemic estimating $15,000, per Hawaii Tea farm
in commercial production_
Statewideapproximately $200,000 plus lost revenue during this outlined period.
Please consider Resolution 665/666-20 to support Hawaii County tea agriculture.
