Subject: effects of the Pandemic upon my business —
Date JUL -
I own a small retreat center in lower Puna (www.kmechawaii.org) and
have been put out of business. We were fully booked prior to Covi-
1 . We cancelled 100% of our reservations and are hanging in there
waiting for us to be allowed to begin marketing again. Once we are
allowed to begin marketing, it will take us many months to begin to
regain where we were before the virus hit us. We let most of our staff
go and are running a skeleton crew with just four people. Still our fixed
expenses are at a minimum $4,000 a month. In addition, we just have
had a failure in our solar system which cost us a capital expense of
$18,000. We've paid excise and Hotel tax last year to about $28,000.
Before that we were forced to close due to the volcano for about a
year. Any financial help you can afford will be appreciated. We are
now running on borrowed money.
i
Yours Sincerely,
Leonard Sussman
