Chung, Chair And Members of the Hawaii County Council From: "`e Rebecca Villegas, Council Member District 7 Re: Proposed Amendment to Resolution No. 681-20, Relating to Resolution Requesting The Hawaii County Corporation Counsel To Join Legal Action, City & Council of Honolulu vs Sunoco LP, et al., Against Fossil Fuel Companies to Recover Climate Crisis-Related Costs That Have Impacted the County of Hawaii. Please find attached proposed amendments to Resolution 681-20. The proposed amendments are illustrated below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Resolution No 681-20 and bolded for illustrative purposes (material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken; material to be added is underscored). 1. The title of the resolution is amended to read as follows: ''A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HAWAII COUNTY CORPORATION COUNSEL TO JOIN LEGAL ACTION, CITY & ['"`�'TNCIL] COUNTY OF HONOLULU VS SUNOCO LP, ET AL., CIV. NO. 20-380, AGAINST FOSSIL FUEL COMPANIES TO RECOVER CLIMATE CRISIS-RELATED COSTS THAT HAVE IMPACTED THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. 2. The sixth enacting clause is amended to read as follows: "WHEREAS, Per the 2017 Hawaii Sea Level Rise Vulnerability and Adaptation Report for Hawaii Island, page 69 and page 75, over the next 30 to 70 years, homes and businesses located near a shoreline will be impacted by sea level rise, approximately 130 structures will be chronically flooded by 3.2 feet of sea level rise, potential economic losses (all structures and land) island-wide would increase from an estimated $195 million with 1.1 feet of sea level rise to $426 million with 3.2 feet of sea level rise; and" A draft copy of Resolution No. 681-20, Draft 2, is not provided due to the limited scope of these proposed amendments.
