RE: Appointment to the Fire Commission

It is my pleasure to appoint Mr. Scott Collins, a resident of Council District 1, to the Fire
Commission. Mr. Collins is currently employed as the Hawaii Island Chief of the Hawaii
Government Employees Association.
He is a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama and holds a Bachelors degree
in Sociology and Masters degree in Human Resource Management from the University
of Hawaii at Manoa and a Juris Doctorate from UH Manoa William S. Richardson
School of Law.
Mr. Collins was born on Oahu and raised in Paauilo. He is a member of the Democratic
party. If confirmed, he will serve to fill a vacant term to end December 31, 2020. Upon
expiration of this term, Mr. Collins will qualify to reapply for reappointment to a five-year
term.
