You have a copy of my testimony from our last public meeting with the planning
commission. Thank you, at least after many years of emailing Mr Tai, his trees has
finally been cut down. Of course, nothing was hauled away, so there are a lot o
trunks and branches left behind.
My other reason for supporting bill 150, is the traffic flow on Hale Nani St and
Hualalai St. We have an unusual traffic pattern. Hale Nani St. merges into
Hualalai St. at a sharp curve, with a huge wall on the passenger side, creating a
blind spot. This is the exact spot that the traffic from the proposed site will be
entering and exiting. There is a new Vision Medical building that was constructed
at the corner of Hualalai St and Kapiolani St. Initially the traffic flow to this
building was to be in and out on Kapiolani St. and Hualalai St. They were going to
restrict patients from exiting onto Hualalai St. All of a sudden, the traffic to this
building was changed to enter only from Kapiolani St. and enter and exit from
Hualalai St. ( therefore only one exit). For safety purposes, less vehicles entering
Hualalai St at this site would be better. Single dwelling homes would create less
traffic as compared to multi building units.
Whenever there is new construction, hopefully more thought and work will be
done on what kind of negative impact there will be on the residents in the
neighborhood: We have had our share of thoughtless construction.
