Dear Hawai'i County Council Members,
I am writing with regard to Telecommunications Regulations EACP-44.
I would like to start by saying that I am adamantly opposed to the rollout out of 5G that
is happening world-wide.
In facing the roll out of 5G technology in Hawai'i, and more specifically in Hawai'i
County, we must take the opportunity to consider the facts regarding the dangers of
5G, and the potential harm it will bring to our community, BEFORE moving forward.
The electromagnetic standards used by the FCC, which telecommunication companies
often use as their argument towards the safety of EMFs, are based on "thermal heating"
and are 30 years out of date.
From a health perspective, there are a multitude of scientific studies* that have shown
that constant exposure to base transmitting stations (cell towers) cause a significant
increase in cancer, type 2 diabetes, embryo disruption, cognitive impairment including:
delayed fine & gross motor skills and memory, circulatory problems, tremors, depression,
sleep problems, increased suicide...I could go on these are from radiation levels that
are "non-thermal".
From an environmental perspective, 5G also poses a tremendous threat. 5G
frequencies are highly absorbed into insects, especially bees, which studies* have
shown leads to changes in insect behavior, physiology, and morphology. Knowing that
insects are a vital part of a healthy ecosystem and thriving agriculture, 5G would be
detrimental to our precious environment, as well as our agricultural economy. In
addition, studies have also shown negative impacts of 5G frequencies on bird and plant
life, which would deplete the efforts devoted to species conservation here in Hawaii.
Who will be liable for the health and environmental impacts that 5G could create in
Hawai'i County? ...certainly not the telecommunications companies!

5G has been called "The Largest Unethical Medical Experiment in Human History"
because it violates the key ethical medical experiment requirement of `informed
consent' from the participants. If the telecommunications industry's plans for 5G come
to fruition, no person, no animal, no bird, no insect and no plant on Earth will be able to
avoid exposure, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to levels of RF radiation that are tens
to hundreds of times greater than what exists today, without any possibility of escape
anywhere on the planet.
I was first alerted to the dangers 5G when I received an email stating that 5G technology
was being installed in schools on the continental United States. This email inspired me to
research what 5G is, the benefits it offers, and the potential harm it can cause.
As a teaching artist in Hawai'i State public schools, I believe our schools should be a
place of integrity, providing a safe environment that nurtures healthy, positive growth
for our keiki. 5G does not support this notion, in fact it derails it.
Many cities across the nation and throughout the world have passed ordinances and
signed resolutions to halt 5G build out until research and testing show its safe for humans
and the environment.
I ask that Hawai'i County follow suit and halt 5G rollout and potentially ban 5G
until...or rather if....science shows substantial proof that it is safe. As an alternative, safe
options such as fiber optics could be explored.
