Aloha kakou Hawaii Island County Council,
I am writing you as a 30-year resident of Maui County and recently retired Associate Professor at UH Maui College. I
want to add my voice to the many who support this resolution. I understand the feeling of urgency to provide global
connectivity and allow previously unserved areas of the world access to internet. But we must not allow this to
happen without taking all proper precautions. More testing is needed. There is too much at stake to allow corporate
for-profit motives to drive the pace of something that has the potential to negatively affect the electro-magnetic
field of the planet.
Hawaii is advantageously unique, both geographically and politically. The ring in one voice can make a significant
impact. When we group our voices together in a united message, we can make a stand that will impact not only one
island, or one island state, but the entire global infrastructure. I urge you on the county council to use the power of
your voices now to represent the greater good in this all-too-serious issue.
