RESOLUTION NO. 719 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TASK
FORCE ON FEEDING THE HUNGRY TO PROVIDE FRESH PRODUCE IN KONA TO
THOSE IN NEED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization with an established community-based program designed to feed the growing
number of our in-need population; and
WHEREAS, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is causing severe hardship on families in
Kona, including the ability to provide meals for themselves, their children, and kupuna; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry is coordinating efforts in Kona
to provide free bags of fresh produce to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry has requested financial
assistance to help pay for fresh produce and supplies that is needed for the preparation and
distribution of fresh produce to the community; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
conduct alcohol- and drug-free events and activities that are beneficial to the community's health
and well-being; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry for expenses
associated with providing fresh produce in Kona to those in need during the COVID-19
pandemic.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
