Subject: July 22nd Council Hearing - Opposition to Factory Built Housing in Bill 179
Aloha,
I, Seth Jones, oppose Appendix L of Bill 197. The reason being that this is going to put a lot of roofers, carpenters,
plumbers, drywallers and electricians out of work. With the uncertainty that everyone faces during this pandemic
middle class trades people are going to lose money and take food off of their families table. The families of Big Island
cannot afford to lose this kind of income. The Hawaii County is creating a special pathway for FBH while
locally-based construction contractors must comply with existing procedures governed by the
construction code. The same standards should be held to FBH as it is to everyone else. I request County
council to remove Appendix L relating to FBH and all references to FBH in the proposed Ordinance.
