RE: Relating to Bill 179
Chair Chung and members of the Hawaii County Council,
My name is Craig Takamine and I am submitting this testimony on behalf of the Hawaii Island
Contractors Association,which represents over 150 businesses on the Big Island is in strong
support of Bill 179.
Bill 179 will improve and streamline the Building permit process by removing unnecessary steps
that currently exist and consolidating to a one permit system.This will improve the processing
speed of permits and assure that our employees are working during this pandemic.
We would like to thank the Council for your efforts as this is a very complicated issue but one
that is a high priority not only for the construction industry but for businesses along with the
general public.
The HICA strongly supports Bill 179 and encourages the Hawaii County Council to adopt the
bill as is.
