HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0986.516 2018-2020 From: Daniel K COUNTY CLERK Sent: Monday, July 20, 2020 6:39 AM COUNTY OF HAWAI'I To: Council Testimony RECEIVED Subject: Support Resolution 678-20 Time 6:6{04Y' By Date -JUL 2 0 2020 Aloha Council Members, I support the resolution because it puts public safety first by following the precautionary principle until this yet untested technology is proven safe. Bottom line the"precautionary principle" should apply.Such a policy approach would require the proponents of 5G to establish with a high degree of scientific certainty that the technology is safe BEFORE we just freely allow anyone, for example,to set up a cell tower on their home without even being required to get a permit and thereby possibly place neighbors at risk. I'm pretty sure I'll survive with the current speed of my streaming service and won't need in the foreseeable future to wirelessly interact with my refrigerator or other appliance or enjoy whatever other convenience 5G may offer-that is, at least until the proponents of 5G establish with sufficient scientific certainty and testing that the technology does not pose an undue risk to the public. That's really all that is being asked for by our concerned public here!
