Council Testimony
Support Resolution 678-20
COUNTY CLERK
COUNTY OF HAWAI ' I
RECEIVED
Time 6:11 ars By
Date JUL 2 0 2020
I am fearful about telecommunication companies are trying to build more 4G and 5G towers for their profit disregarding our health
and the environment. It will contribute to make this world unlivable along with the pollution we've been building up.
There are enough scientists warning the danger of the electromagnetic radiation and the telecommunication companies and FCC
have not done much research about its health effects (BIG WIRELESS CONCEDES: No studies showing safety of 5G - 7th Feb 2019
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZ5soLrvXFg) and FCC's head is the former Verizon's lawyer, Ajit Pai who is partial.
County Planning Director Michael Yee and Corporation Counsel Joe Kamelamela along with Danny Patel say they can not do
anything "because of Telecommunications Act of 1996, applications for cellular infrastructure that meets FCC guidelines cannot be
denied on the grounds of health concerns."
Kamelamela said the county could possibly impose prerequisites for telecommunication infrastructure applications, but added that
any application, once approved by a planning commission, comes with a "shot clock": If the county takes no action on the application
within 60 days, the application is automatically approved. For that reason we do need this Resolution 678-20 passed l l l
If the council members are working for people not for the telecommunication industry, please pass this resolution for now and the
future.
I hear there is fiber optic infrastructure and according to google search "In theory, a wireless network can transmit data at the same
speed as optical fiber. In practice, fiber -optics attain higher maximum speeds.... Optical fiber is capable of much faster speeds than
current networks provide. If the company upgrades its other equipment, fiber-optic cables can send faster messages".
And also, there are many cities or states in the US that put restrictions on 5G antennas such as Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA;
Washington D.C.; Santa Barbara, CA; Louisiana, New York state. We don't have to succumb to FCC.

We can say "No" to 5G antennas

I am grateful that County Council Member Matt Kaneali'i-Kleinfelder is initiating this resolution. I myself do not own a cell phone
and I do not want to be a victim of electromagnetic radiation.
